Experimenting with Melting
Welcome back and Happy New Year! The children were very excited to have so much snow to play with the last few days. One student loved the snow so much that he tried to bring a snowball home in his backpack... this prompted a class discussion about how long we thought it would take for the snowball to melt. We also experimented with painting snow in a bucket, by mixing various paint colours together to see what would happen. When the children were finished painting and exploring the snow, we placed the bucket of snow in the freezer overnight so it would be nice and cold. The next afternoon we took it out of the freezer and left it out overnight to see if it would melt by the next morning. The children were excited to come to class to find that the bucket of painted snow was now a bucket of dirty water. Great exploring everyone!
