Coding Fun

Today we took our Algorithm lesson to the next step and talked about how to turn an Algorithm into a Program, using special codes. We reviewed the direction words- forward , backward, turn left and turn right, and then came up with special arm movements to represent each direction. We even came up with an arm movement to represent the stop action. The children really seemed to enjoy first trying to get a few student 'robots' from the start point to the ice cream cone finish using our direction words only, and then using our special arm movements to move a few more student 'robots' from the start point to the ice cream cone finish. We then explored the Coding game BeeBot, where the children had to use their direction words and arrows to make BeeBot move from start to finish through a garden maze. Great work today!
