Learning Buddies
Exciting news... our Kindergarten students were able to partner up with our Grade 7 students for two different learning activities. The first time was when the Grade 7 students came to our classroom to read the animal stories that they had written during their literacy block. Their stories were all very well done and kept our Kindergarten students interested and excited about what was going to happen next. The second time was when our class went for a walk down the big senior hall to the Grade 7 classroom to write our Santa letters. The Grade 7 students were excellent writing partners and really helped our Kindergarten students come up with some great ideas of what to say in their letter to Santa. Great work everyone!

Working hard in Kindergarten
Today the students explored around the room, working on various activities and play. There was lots of building, cutting, creating, measuring, reading and printing going on in our room today. We also talked about the changing temperatures outside and all of the Warm Winter Clothing that they should have at school... snow pants, boots, coats, hat, mittens, etc. Please help your child to practice dressing and undressing themselves in all of their warm winter clothing. Great work everyone!

How long will it take for our snowball to melt?
Yesterday Max found a snowball outside and wondered what would happen if he brought it inside, so we put it in a bowl and watched. Other children were also curious about what may happen and eventually it turned into a discussion about how long it would take for the snowball to melt. The students patiently watched the clock, while practicing counting by 5. Max put the snowball in the bowl at 9 and by 9:55 it had turned into a bowl of water. Great work everyone! Continued practice exploring clocks and counting on by 5 is encouraged, as the whole class seemed very interested in what was happening when we brought our discussion to the whole group gather at the carpet.
