Round like a pancake...

After eating our pancake treat we discussed things that are round like a pancake. The children then completed a journal, copying the sentence '_______ is round like a pancake' into their journal and then drawing a picture. Great work today!

Pancake Day

Today the children all really seemed to enjoy eating their pancake treat from our Parent Council. Most of the children finished both pancakes, some with syrup and some without. Great manners used today by all of our friends. Way to go!

Bibi and the Bull

Today we finished reading our book Bibi and the Bull. The students really enjoyed making the bull sounds and the brave little girl sounds, from when the bull tried to scare the girl but the girl ended up scaring the bull right back. The students did a great job visualizing what they would do if they were confronted by a bull in the yard while playing, just how Bibi was confronted. Great work discussing the difference between non-fiction and fiction, as this was a non-fiction story based on actual events. Keep it up!
Here is the chart that we created from our book discussion after we finished the story. Great work!

Bibi and the Bull

Today I introduced the story Bibi and the Bull to the class. We looked at the front and back covers and discussed various text features like, author, illustrator, non-fiction, etc... I also asked the students to look at the picture of the bull and describe what they saw, as well as what problem they thought was in the story. For homework tonight I asked the students to think about what may happen to Bibi and the Bull in the story, as we are going to read it tomorrow and I'd like to hear more of their predictions first. Great work today!

Loonie License Day

Thank you to all for donating to our Loonie License Day! The money raised by the whole school will be going towards the purchase of new technology for our school robotic programs. The children were all very excited this morning to talk about what they brought in and share their stories about each item. Here are a few cute pictures of my very excited friends...

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! The students are all very excited to pass out their cards to their friends. We read a really cute story this morning about Clifford the Dog trying to figure out what is love. When we finished the story I asked the students to think about 'what is love?'... here are their answers:

Happy 100th Day!

Today the students really seemed to enjoy our 100th Day activities. We built with 100 objects, tested how full a jar would get with 100 water drops, made 100th Day crowns, counted by 10 to 100 and made 100 pictures. Here are a few pictures from our very busy day. Great counting today!

Morning Message

The children have been doing a great job working on our Morning Message! I have been leaving out many words for the children to problem solve together. Lots of sounding out words using the letter sounds and team work happening on our carpet in the morning! If you are looking for something to work on with your child, letter sounds, sounding out words and even printing some words would be great!
