Christmas Concert

Today all of the Kindergarten students were treated to a very special Christmas Concert performed by our very own senior students! What a great job they did! So much talent here at St. William school!! The musicians did so well that they inspired a few of our friends to make their own instruments at our Maker Station after. Great work today!

Niklas made a tambourine.

Harper made a flute.

Nicolas and Nolan made microphones.

Our STEM Project

Yesterday the students worked on a STEM project centered around The Gingerbread Man story that we had read the other day. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. After reading the story we discussed what would have happened had the Gingerbread Man had a bridge to cross the river. We constructed bridges for the Gingerbread Man out of blocks, lego and other classroom toys the other day, and then yesterday we worked on building a bridge out of various materials. The children were given their journals to plan and draw their design and record what materials they were planning on using. After their plan was complete they got to work, designing and building, while problem solving any issues that came up. It was exciting to watch the children try something and then when it wouldn't work the way they wanted it to, start over and try something new. The children all did a great job and it was so rewarding for me to walk around and watch their ideas unfold.
